Solar panel installation in Helmdange: 20 panels and a complete Enphase ecosystem

This home has several roof sections, each with room for only a few panels, as well as shaded areas. Ecoclima therefore designed a system comprising 20 AIKO Neostar panels with Enphase IQ8HC microinverters, two IQ Battery 5P units with FlexPhase — 10 kWh in total — and an IQ EV Charger 2 integrated into the solar energy management system.

The project challenge

Several small roof sections and shading: a configuration where microinverters make a real difference.

The roof does not form one large, uniform plane. The 20 panels had to be distributed across different sections with varying orientations and solar exposure.

A section-by-section assessment

Our technicians assessed every usable area, the shadows cast throughout the day and how the modules could be distributed without treating the roof as a uniform surface. This layout makes effective use of the different available sections of the home.

Each AIKO Neostar panel is paired with an Enphase IQ8HC microinverter. Conversion therefore takes place at module level: when one area is temporarily shaded or less favourably exposed, the effect remains largely limited to the affected panel instead of determining the behaviour of an entire string.

Microinverters do not eliminate shading. They do, however, allow each panel to be managed and monitored individually, directly addressing the constraints of this roof.

Why deploy the complete ecosystem?

The intelligent home energy management system — or HEMS — connects production and consumption data with the batteries and EV charger. The aim is not simply to add more equipment, but to make better use of solar energy when it is available, store part of the surplus and integrate EV charging into the same strategy.
